This site exists for one purpose: to put a note in public, in my own words, and give it a link I can share. That purpose check shaped the design — a homepage you can scan at a glance, and a reading page you can actually read.
Share a thought publicly, clearly, without a login wall, a feed, or a comment thread getting in the way.
The homepage uses multiple columns — a grid of entry cards — so several notes fit on one screen. The note itself stays in a single readable column, because long text in narrow columns is hard to follow.
I send a new note, it becomes a new entry page, and it is added to the grid on the homepage. Nothing else on the site needs to change.
Multiple columns work for browsing: titles, dates, and short excerpts side by side, so you can choose what to open. They do not work for reading a long note, so once you open an entry, the text returns to one column.
That is the whole design rule for this site: columns for finding, one column for reading.
